I’m a huge college basketball fan. One of my favorite players to watch this year is Stephen Curry of Davidson. He always seems two steps ahead of everyone else on the floor. I recently recorded the Davidson vs West Virginia game on my dvr. I think I know the reason why I recorded it now: They ran a short clip that talked about Steph’s faith and what that means to his game.
Each game day, Steph’s mother texts him a scripture verse for that day, and he writes the verse on his shoe. In the game versus West Virginia, that verse was the familiar Philippians 4:13 as evidenced by the picture of his shoe I took as a freeze frame on the TV.
When asked how the All-American deals with all the pressure facing him, he responded, “I don’t play for the people in the stands. I play to honor my talent and to honor God.”
